3 John 2Beloved, I pray that all may go well with you and that you may be in good health, as it goes well with your soul.

It might seem heartless or ungodly to not always want things to go well for someone, if what you see as “going well” in their mind is compromising their soul.  But as you walk with God, you realize that His priority is not about things being the way we always want them.  God’s goal for the relationship is always to prioritize our souls as the “gauge” whether we’re “doing well” or not…

It is possible to have everything going “haywire” in your life outwardly, yet have such a peace with God, that you are actually happy and can genuinely say, “it is well with my soul”!  Yet that kind of faith and peace in the midst of storms, comes to a soul that is striving to prioritize life with God, and not defining our well-being by circumstances…

If we consider Jesus, and how in-tune He was with His relationship with the Father, the Holy Spirit guided Him into horrendous circumstances, we see Jesus being the epitome of prioritizing His soul over His circumstances.  Because had He prioritized His circumstances and health to go well, He wouldn’t have voluntarily gone to the cross!

I believe one of the major reasons we can struggle with our purpose and fulfillment in God, is because we prioritize circumstances going well, over our soul being well with the Father like Christ.  So if God calls us to worse circumstances, but obeying Him would make it well with our souls, what would be revealed as our priority?

Fight to renew your mind as to what is the priority and definition “of things going well”. Because if it is not our souls, circumstances change like the wind, and so will our stability and peace…

In His Love, Ld
