Where do you go for comfort when your prayers are not answered?

We know we are supposed to go to God when we feel rejected by the world or even our loved ones, but where do you go when you feel rejected by God Himself? When you make a request to God and God doesn’t hear?

Let’s be honest. Isn’t the reason we neglect to pray because our prayers are not answered? If our prayers are answered every time, I’m sure we would be on our knees praying every moment. But oftentimes, when we pray, sometimes desperately so, no answer comes. And we get disappointed and either quit praying or become sporadic.

Let me tell you one place you can go when your prayers aren’t answered: To the garden of Gethsemane where Jesus’ prayer was rejected. There, He prayed that if it be possible, let the cup of wrath (dying on the cross) pass from Him, but God’s answer was, “no!” God’s Son was pleading for His own life and the Father said, “no!”

Can you imagine your child pleading for his life to you and you saying, “no?”

Jesus’ own prayer was rejected so that you and I might live.

Take comfort if your prayers are not answered. We have a God who rejected His own Son’s plea for His life for your sake! If He loves you that much, then the prayer He did not answer is because it’s better for you that way.

“He who did not spare His own Son but gave Him up for us all, how will He not also with Him graciously give us all things?” Rom 8:32
