Ephesians 5:15-18Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise but as wise, 16  making the best use of the time, because the days are evil. 17 Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is.

In planning our day are routines that should not be broken.  For example getting up and preparing for a job, school, or taking care of our homes are things we know to prepare for.  Barring any unforeseen situation to “break” our routine, we generally characterize that to be a “normal day”…
But in devoting our lives to daily walk with the Lord, we should make room for the Holy Spirit to interrupt or add to our routines.  As much as these things can be seen as “disruptions”, it’s better to look at them as opportunities to “make the best use of our time” considering we see our life from a Kingdom perspective.(Galatians 5:25)
Being sensitive to the Holy Spirit helps us see life through a God given purpose.  That I am not just programming each day to be lived on a “conveyor belt” of routine and boredom, but engaged in a spiritual life that challenges me to be “alive” to what is going on inside of me with God and others. In other words, challenged by God to be present in the moment (now faith!).(Romans 6:11, Hebrews 11:1)
That is why exhaustion is the great enemy of production.  Whether that’s physical, emotional, or spiritual, if we can be deceived into procrastinating what I know I should do, then I can’t “make the best use of the time” I’m given from God.  In other words seeing my life as not my own but belonging to Christ, to engage what the Spirit is telling me in that moment, which gives true life! (John 6:63, Romans 8:6, 1 Corinthians 6:19)
This is a healthy confrontation with Jesus through the Spirit.  Because if I see my life as being on “God’s time”, then I don’t assume that I have time to do later what God is convicting me to do now!  Many times mercy allows us to develop a pattern of procrastinating, until we learn from painful regrets that we can’t fix, and now the person is gone, or the situation has gotten worse. (James 4:14-17)
I pray you seek to live engaged with Christ, to the point conviction drives you to make wise decisions that affirms the Lord’s will for your life, which is the best use of our time on this earth, seeing now more than ever the days are evil.-In His Love, Ld
