1 Corinthians 2:12-13-Now we have received not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might understand the things freely given us by God.
Naturally as human beings, I believe what makes inspiration, motivation, TED talks, etc. so appealing, is that it pulls us out of the limitations of our own minds.  Hearing people speak positive and challenging things to expand our understanding is a great thing to be availed to, and grow as an individual…
Yet as Christians, what “dulls” our enthusiasm in seeking wisdom from God?  Being endowed with faith, we have every opportunity to seek God, and anticipate hearing from Him what no one else could tell us!  So we shouldn’t find the Word as boring, but God as someone who is excited to reveal personal things we could’ve never imagined!  (Proverbs 25:2, 1 Corinthians 2:9)
The greatest challenge to our faith is everyday life.  The things that look to “grab us” at the heart, distracting us from focusing on God and His Spirit, to actually pull us out of the present frustration, discouragement, pain, etc.  So it’s easier to resort to “natural” encouragement via the internet, people, quotes, etc.  Because those people/things sought first, don’t take faith and an inventory of our hearts, to have an expectation and answer from the Spirit…(1 John 3:19-22)
If we truly thought about how God wants to answer us from the Spirit, not only would we realize how deeply He loves us, but how jealous He is to be the answer to our life!  So the fight for us as Christians, is to not lose our sense of expectation from God.  To lose that, is to operate in a day to day routine, with no expectation that things could amazingly change, being physically alive but spiritually dead…(James 2:26, Revelation 3:1)
Though we all encounter “seasons” and times we feel that way, it is unbelief and sin to remain there (Hebrews 3:12-13)!  Our routine may not change, but our expectations should not be limited to our routine, otherwise faith to hear from God’s Spirit is not what we are living by.  Instead we prove to live by the limitations of our unbelief, and never see the Spirit work in our lives as we could…Matthew 13:58

And he did not do many mighty works there, because of their unbelief.
