Romans 16:25Now to him who is able to strengthen you according to my gospel and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery that was kept secret for long ages
As Christians, it may not seem unusual that we could be “strengthened” by words in a book.  But because we believe the Word read and spoken is Life, reading the Word in order to find comfort, peace, and strength for our daily lives, is a necessity for us to live by faith…(John 6:63)
To really see the Word come to life, takes faith to come to the book expecting God to speak to us.  We know this to be true, because many times we may not “feel” like opening the Bible to seek God’s face.  But in pushing past our natural desires and comfort, we are saying that true peace comes by faith in seeking spiritual comfort (Philippians 4:5-7, 2 Corinthians 1:3-4).
When we realize that spiritual comfort is more necessary than physical comfort, we make faith, and a “seek first the Kingdom” mentality relative to our lives, and an anchor to our pursuits.  But how do we practically find our strength in Jesus, and the gospel Paul preaches?
Finding our strength in the gospel, forces us to strip ourselves of our ability to help ourselves.  This forces us to be humble and submissive to the only One who can, Jesus!  So we never exclude Jesus from the situation, because He is wisdom and life, if we walk by faith.  If we’re honest, it is us that makes faith irrelevant to everyday life.  Because we look to ourselves, instead of Jesus and the gospel to be the Truth, the Way, and the Life…(1 Corinthians 1:30, John 14:6)
