Proverbs 19:3-People ruin their lives by their own foolishness
and then are angry at the Lord.

Excuses and blame go hand in hand. Usually stemming from focusing on all the elements that provoked us into doing what we wanted, but didn’t turn out good at all. We then filter through the blame process and eventually arrive at bitterness. Moving on from people to eventually God for not keeping us from ruin!

Responsibility towards God is usually the last realization we have, because that takes God opening our eyes to our own foolishness. This is the supernatural beauty of repentance! That God would show us that it was our way that we decided to follow, and He is not responsible for the result of us trying to be god.

We find ourselves angry at God when we have made decisions directly against His Word and Spirit because we have reversed the order of life. We think God is supposed to bless our own way, and because He hasn’t we are angry at Him! But that would make us God and Him subservient to our agenda…

But when we truly are servants of God we can take responsibility because we know we are to be subject to Him and His way. So if things come to ruin, we must take responsibility, because He is has always been better to us than we have been to ourselves!
