Ever thought, “Why am I wasting my life with doing these mundane things for these insignificant people?”

Maybe you are a stay-at-home mom who cleans and cooks all day.
Perhaps you are at a job taking care of people in their disabilities. (And they are unaware of what you do for them)
Perhaps you teach little children in an underprivileged area and you are underpaid.
Perhaps you volunteer your time at a local church without a building.

You can’t help but wish that your life will get better, you will get paid more, you will get more recognition, or you will work with more “significant” people.

If your wish comes true, though, you would actually be doing a disservice to yourself. Right now, you are more in the will of God than if your wish came true. But only if you are doing those mundane tasks for those insignificant people as if you are doing it unto the Lord.

“Whoever receives this child in my name receives me, and whoever receives me receives him who sent me. For he who is least among you all is the one who is great.” Luke 9:48

This is exactly the opposite of what this world propagates. The world bombards us with the idea that if you want significance, then you must do significant things involving significant people. “Go join the U.N. and transform a nation!” But not to the ultimate Judge. He looks at little things we do for little people.

I can guarantee you that those who will be the most famous in heaven will be people we’ve never heard of on earth! And when we hear of what they’ve done on earth, we will think, “well, I could’ve done that!!!”

Be faithful in little.
Be loving to the unrecognized.
Revel in the fact that no one knows you. (But God does!)

Your reward will be great in heaven.
