If you want to make someone miserable, give him everything he wants. Make sure he thinks he is the center of the universe, and everything and everyone exists for him. Soon, he will be so miserable and say things like, “I’m going to kill myself if you don’t give me that!” (When you have already given him everything you could!)

This works with our children. And this works with us by Satan. (Aren’t some of the most miserable people very well to do?)

The reason why this works is simple. This world is NOT about us. We are NOT the center of the universe. So, when we make it about us and make ourselves the center, that’s like a minister at a wedding trying to be the star of that wedding!

Then, what is this world about? Jesus.

Analogies are everywhere only if you will only open your eyes.
– This physical world that echoes the beauty of the unseen. (Beauty is not IN nature; it only comes THROUGH it)
– Stories that we love that typically go – peace, fall, crisis, sacrifice, reconciliation, then restoration (pretty much all Disney movies and Korean dramas follow this pattern). Of course, you recognize that this is the story of the whole Bible….
– Marriages (Apart from it reflecting Christ-Church relationship, what sense does it make?).
– Music (Taking existing tunes and making something new = re-creation).
– Work (Christ came to tear down and rebuild as a master Carpenter).

Awesome thing is when we recognize that this world is about Jesus and He is the center and we adjust our lives accordingly, that’s when we become happy. Like, truly happy! (Like the minister making it about the couple at a wedding!)

Have you known the joy of living in a world that is oozing with meaning that is more than about just little you?

No? Saturate your mind with the words of Christ. Ask God to open your eyes. And He will.
