Leviticus 24:10-12–Now an Israelite woman’s son, whose father was an Egyptian, went out among the people of Israel. And the Israelite woman’s son and a man of Israel fought in the camp, 11 and the Israelite woman’s son blasphemed the Name, and cursed. Then they brought him to Moses. His mother’s name was Shelomith, the daughter of Dibri, of the tribe of Dan. 12 And they put him in custody, till the will of the Lord should be clear to them.

Once we get to a certain age, we should begin to appreciate those older than us.  Mainly because you realize how difficult life can be as you get older, so you appreciate them making it further than you have.  You learn not to be so hasty to make decisions, and realize life is much more like a marathon that you finish well, than a race you look to win in…

This is what Moses learned in his life to turn out to be the great leader he was.  Moses learned in his youth, that hastily doing things his own way can turn into a disaster (murdering an Egyptian).  So it is fitting that after Moses is an old patient man tending sheep, God calls him to lead the children of Israel…

Moses showed how committed he was to the Lord, and displayed the humility he had to wait on God’s will, because he learned from hastily promoting his own.  So when Moses got into a situation with this young boy and his mother, he wanted to be clear on God’s will, to affirm he is dedicated to God’s glory and His people more than himself…

When we wait on the Lord’s will, what we are saying is that we have forsaken our own ideas as to how things should turn out.  We are no longer ambitious for our own glory, but God’s, so we wait.  Waiting can frustrating, waiting can be discouraging, but when waiting on the Lord, it is proof that we are dedicated to His will and purpose, not our own…
