Matthew 17:20-He said to them, “Because of your little faith. For truly, I say to you, if you have faith like a grain of mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move, and nothing will be impossible for you.”

If we consider all the things that we hope for, whether that’s the salvation of family members, getting the job we want, or just facing things that intimidate and disturbs our peace.  After a while we can lose hope, and fail to truly believe that God can do the impossible…
Jesus brings three of his disciples with Him upon a high mountain where He reveals Himself, glorified and affirmed by God the Father.  After witnessing this “revelation” of Jesus, they come down from the mountain and are sent into a crowd, where they are challenged in their faith by a father to heal his demon-possessed boy…
In the disciples’ effort to cast out the demon, they fail, so the man comes to Jesus and He then heals the boy.  So they ask Jesus, “why couldn’t we cast him out?” Jesus says it’s because of their “little faith” or literally translated “not enough faith” to believe He can influence the situation through them. (Matthew 17:19)
Jesus then explains what is needed, which is enough faith to act on what you believe can happen!  So He uses a remarkable illustration that if they had the smallest seed of faith, they could speak to a mountain and it would move, which is hyperbole.  But it speaks to believing that the impossible can happen in the situation we are in/praying for, if we have enough faith to act or “speak to the mountain!” (James 2:18)
Lately, the Lord has challenged me in my “little faith” to believe He can save my family members/friends.  That much like the disciples, He has rebuked me for not having enough faith to act, by praying fervently for them!  So I ask you, what may the Lord be challenging you to have “enough faith” for to act as if it can happen?  (Luke 18:1-8)
Though I may say “I believe” God can do anything, having too little faith to act upon it, is what I truly believe.  That my “little faith” doesn’t believe He can do the impossible in my life, until I pray/act with enough faith that He can.-In His Love, Ld
