If you could have any talent you want, what would it be? Here are some that I wanted or even envied others had:

  • Being able to play the piano. In heaven, I will learn to play the piano. Just hearing the chortles of fingers dancing on the keyboard makes my heart sing!
  • Being able to sing like Pavarotti! When he hits that high C note with such easy, it gives me goosebumps!
  • Being able to perform surgeries with such precision and knowledge that border on miracle.
  • Being able to rise up and throw that basketball down from above the rim!

But there is one talent that outshines them all: Love.
“If I speak human or angelic languages but do not have love, I am a sounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have all faith so that I can move mountains but do not have love, I am nothing.” 1 Cor. 13:1-2
Love is the gift above all gifts that gives purpose to every other gift. We are each given a gift/talent for the sake of loving others. 1 Cor.13 makes this very clear. You may have a tremendous gift in something, but if you are not using it for someone else, then your gift is wasted.
What is your gift? How are you using it for others?
Live for others.
