Mondays are my favorite (Although, I love Sundays, too!).  I am not being sarcastic. Although I go to work on Mondays (school), compare to other days, it is the lightest and the furthest away from the stressful days.

As a pastor, my tough days are Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. I’m usually finishing up the sermon, at a church function, meeting with people, or preparing for things on those days. They are definitely my most stressful days. I look forward to Mondays for this reason. Once I get off school around 2, I’m free to work out, read, listen to music, or whatever else I want to do for one afternoon until I go home to my family.

Although, I’m extremely thankful for being gainfully employed and having a fairy busy schedule, I long for the days when I can rest. I’m not talking about my retirement. I do NOT look forward to my retirement. I don’t think it’s a biblical concept anyway. Can you imagine Paul retiring from preaching the gospel and planting churches? Can you imagine John on the countryside playing golf and fishing in his old age??

But I do look forward to the permanent rest at my final home. I look forward to my soul resting in God and finding complete satisfaction in Him. No more stress, dread, or anxiety over work there. Work will be for pleasure and will be fruitful such that we will want to work.

But until then, it is time to work. Even if it is not producing the fruit we desire right away, as we look forward to the day that we will rest for good, and buoyed by the thought, we find strength to be faithful at where we are…

23 Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, 24 knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You are serving the Lord Christ. Colossians 3:23-24
