Luke 10:40-42-But Martha was distracted with much serving. And she went up to him and said, “Lord, do you not care that my sister has left me to serve alone? Tell her then to help me. 41 But the Lord answered her, “Martha, Martha, you are anxious and troubled about many things,  42 but one thing is necessary. Mary has chosen the good portion, which will not be taken away from her.”
You learn as you inherit more responsibilities, that you either have to prioritize your concerns, or live anxiety ridden over all of your concerns.  To pretend we don’t have a care in the world is unreasonable, but it is equally unreasonable to want others to worry at the same intensity we worry about things.  Which is why we need worship…
They are things that I am more concerned about than my wife is concerned about, and vice versa.  That doesn’t mean I shouldn’t share my concerns, or she shouldn’t share hers, communication is important.  But for me to expect her to relate, to the point I get angry about her not caring as I do, may reveal my problem with anxiety, more than her just having a “hard heart” towards me…
This was the issue Jesus was addressing with Martha.  That she had not prioritized what was most important, so it left her trying to do everything on her own.  Then she gets angry with her sister, for not having her priorities as the most important concern in her life as well!  Jesus rebukes Martha, that she is motivated by concerns, and riddled with anxiety, because she isn’t worshipping like Mary.  Martha is angry at her peace, while she is unraveling…
Worship affirms that Jesus is the motivator of our priorities and actions.  If we neglect worship, we will eventually bury ourselves with worry, and possible anger towards those that aren’t as concerned as we are .  To be honest, you shouldn’t care about everything, unless you can give it over to Jesus!  Worry distracts us from taking care of what should be the real concern in our life .  True worship brings order, and order brings peace (1 Corinthians 14:33).  Disorder from worry, makes things priority that are not.
