2 Thessalonians 1:11To this end we always pray for you, that our God may make you worthy of his calling and may fulfill every resolve for good and every work of faith by his power,
Most would agree that we live in a blessed country, and even in the midst of hard times, we can still be thankful that they are not worse!  So much of being thankful during this day of celebrating can center around family, and the tangible blessings we have, which is great.  But how much do you consider being thankful for being made worthy to walk with God?
If our foundation starts with the gospel, we can live immediately finding gratitude, though that is not always the case.  We can struggle with being thankful, because we spend much of our time trying to be made worthy.  Rather than accepting that God has made us worthy, and is continually making us worthy by His grace!
When we allow ourselves to be the author of our own “worthiness”, we have no one to be thankful to but ourselves, which makes us proud.  On the other hand, if we are so guilt ridden that we don’t feel worthy of anything or anyone, we’re too sad to be thankful!
In the gospel, no matter how wonderful a year it has been, or whether you have struggled immensely, there is a reason to be thankful if you center your identity in the grace of the gospel.  Because by His grace, we are made worthy to walk in our calling with Him more and more.  It also takes the pressure off of us, to try and makes ourselves worthy, when Christ already has.  Our job is to gratefully walk in what He has richly provided!
Happy Thanksgiving!  Ld
