2 Peter 3:1-3-This is now the second letter that I am writing to you, beloved. In both of them I am stirring up your sincere mind by way of reminder, 2  that you should remember the predictions of the holy prophets and the commandment of the Lord and Savior through your apostles, 3 knowing this first of all, that scoffers will come in the last days with scoffing, following their own sinful desires.

My wife and I finally had an opportunity to have lunch together and “check in” with each other without the kids.  We both realized how good it is for us to be stirred up about each other, and remind us what we have without them.  The busyness of life has a way of having us forget about each other, yet spending time together always stabilizes the both of us…
This is why Peter is writing this group of believers for a second time.  They are living in the midst of persecution, where surely they are people who scoff at their faith and sufferings for Christ.  But the reminder that Peter wants to stir them up by, is their fellowship with God in the Word.  That reminders of why you love God, and how good He is, helps stabilize them against such scoffing…
Just like my wife and I when we haven’t had time together without the kids.  The busyness of taking care of them, instead of making time for each other begins to “get to us”.  Suddenly you find yourself exhausted with the unrelenting responsibilities of parenting, and need to be reminded why you are married to each other!
In other words, without fellowship with the Word, and being reminded of why we should be stabilized against the world. Their scoffing will soon erode at Christ and His love, which is the foundation of our relationship.  Soon we find ourselves just trying to handle responsibilities, instead of embracing the foundation of why.

In His Love, Ld
