John 18:1-2- When Jesus had spoken these words, he went out with his disciples across the Kidron Valley, where there was a garden, which he and his disciples entered. 2 Now Judas, who betrayed him, also knew the place, for Jesus often met there with his disciples.

One of the (many) things that I had to grow and learn in marriage is how to take notes. Actually writing (or typing) the things my wife mentions that she likes so I don’t forget the place or thing she saw that she liked. Using my memory to stow away those things to show that I am paying attention…

Yet it is possible to be just as perceptive when we are plotting to do something evil. Remembering places and things not for someone’s benefit but for their downfall. Stowing away bitter memories and frustrations to use against them!

Judas shows us how we can use an opportunity for communion and fellowship, and pervert it by using it to backstab and betray, creating chaos and division. Amazingly all the times Jesus may have gathered the twelve disciples to commune together and talk about life and His glory, Judas was storing in his memory the place to setup his betrayal…

How do you see your home? Do you see it as a place where people come together to commune and bond in unity? Or is it a place where you conjure up bad memories and relive your anger and frustrations? Or how do you view your church? Are you embracing it as a place to commune with Christ and His people, or has it become a place to setup your agenda, betraying it’s ultimate purpose? Fight to designate life for communion and unity rather than selfish agendas and division.
