One of the evidences of our salvation is our church involvement.

By church I mean the people; not the building or the activities. By involvement, I mean getting entangled and getting “tied” down.

Though we speak in this way, yet in your case, beloved, we feel sure of better things—things that belong to salvation. For God is not unjust so as to overlook your work and the love that you have shown for his name in serving the saints, as you still do. Hebrews 6:9-10

God looks at how we love other believers as a fruit of our salvation. It is the fruit of the Holy Spirit – Love, Joy, Peace, etc. (Gal 5:22). And if that fruit of love for other believers is not there, then it’s good evidence that the tree is bad. And the bad tree in the end will be cut down and thrown into the fire. (Matt 7:19)

“But I accepted Jesus as my Savior and Lord when I was a teenager, and I even got baptized!” God is not interested in what declaration you have made years ago, but what evidence there is now in making that declaration then!

If you love me, you will love my girls. It would be a lie for you to say you love me but you don’t like my children. I’d have to think that you are out to use me for your own gain. In the same way, if we say we love God, but we don’t love His imperfect children, then we lie. (1 John 4:20) (And I must say we don’t know we are lying to ourselves most of the time!)

I am pleading with you… Please, please, do not neglect your local church. Your neglecting may be the evidence that you were never saved! I want you in God’s arms in the end. There will be many in the end who thought they would make it to heaven but won’t.

If love won’t draw you in to heaven, let fear drive you out of hell…
