Jesus would have made a terrible CEO if He lived in our day. Rather than advertising Himself and sensationalizing His works, He kept some of His greatest works private.
Example: Matt 8:3, “Jesus reached out his hand and touched the man. ‘I’m willing,’ he said. ‘Be Clean!’ Immediately he was cured of his leprosy. Then Jesus said to him, ‘See that you don’t tell anyone. But go, show yourself to the priest and offer the gift Moses commanded, as a testimony to them.'”
There were many other occasions where Jesus, after having performed a miracle, told people not tell anyone else about what He had done. Why not? Wouldn’t it have been better if more people knew about what He is capable of? Wouldn’t Christianity have spread quicker if He had advertised Himself? That’s certainly what a CEO would’ve done. “Maximize your talent, Jesus!” is what a CEO would’ve thought.
But God’s method is different than ours. “His ways are not our ways.” God consistently chose to affect and influence a few people. And it was those few people who became the catalyst to what God wanted to achieve in the world. That is God’s way.
Imagine God using you as an instrument to achieve His purpose where you live, work and play. We are few. Yes. But it has always the few that God used to achieve His grand purpose of bringing the world to Himself.
If you are feeling like an underdog, you are exactly where God wants you to be!
