“Our (Christians’) problem isn’t that we don’t have God in our lives (We do). Our problem is that He is one among many!”

This thought hit me like a brick this morning as I was reading bizarre happenings in the latter part of the Book of Judges. It involves stealing from family, Las Vagas style ordination of a priest, polygamy, gang rape, mutilation, a civil war, and a genocide! These people were so lost that they didn’t even know they were lost. They were living in hell on earth and didn’t know it. They probably thought that that was the norm.

How many people living in inner cities of America living in such atrocious conditions and facing bizarre situations and they think they are the norm! But why? Why did this happen? Why such painful and perplexing behaviors and conditions? It’s not that they didn’t have God in their hearts. They did. But He was simply among many other gods in their lives. He was not prominent. He wasn’t the ultimate.

I fear for America. God, in His goodness, gave us His laws and furthermore gave us His Son to enable us to live according to His precepts. Yet, we have superstitious views about Him and He is simply one of many things we attend to. Job. Marriage. Children. School. Soccer practices. Dance lessons. Aging parents. God.

Please. God is good. He gave us the laws for our own good, for our prosperity, for our peace, and for our joy. Do not forget Him. Do not set Him aside. Do not treat Him as one among many. Make Him prominent in your life however the Lord convicts you! Our future and our children’s future depend on it!

Love,

PH
