I wanted to make something clear.

In the midst of studying Gospel in Life, it is easy to think that desires are bad.

Desires for validation, approval, significance, security, comfort, etc. All these are GOOD desires. God gave them to us.

They only become wrong when they are based on something/someone other than God.

Ps 71:1-2
In you, O LORD, I have taken refuge;
let me never be put to shame.
2 Rescue me and deliver me in your righteousness;
turn your ear to me and save me.

This psalmist was looking for security in God. He was looking for validation in God. His hope was in God.

Imagine a person who seeks validation only from God – Can’t you see how confident he would seem?
Imagine a person who finds his security only in God – Can’t you see how comforted he would seem?
Imagine a person whose definition of success is defined by God – Can’t you see how he humble he would be?

Seek power.
Seek comfort.
Seek Success.
Seek recognition.

Only in, through, and for God.
