Don’t you hate waiting?

Especially, to those us who are older and know the preciousness of time, waiting is eating up our most valuable asset, which is time. They say time is money, but it’s more than that. It’s life! When we run out of money, we still live. But when we run out of time, we are dead… Thus, time is extremely important and we feel we need to make every minute count.

That’s why we hate waiting!

But I don’t think it’s possible to grow as a Christian without learning how to wait – to wait upon the Lord.

Ps. 27:14, “Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.”

God is almost never earlier than we’d like, but almost always later than we’d like. He doesn’t seem to come through many times, or if He does, it’s too late. Take Lazarus’ case for example. To the sisters who were mourning his death, Jesus came too late…

Doesn’t it seem that God is on a different page than us? He doesn’t seem to share our view regarding what’s urgent and what’s not. What’s important and what’s not.

Here are some guidelines that helped me in trying to understand difficult and puzzling circumstances.

– God is more interested in helping us become godly than happy.
– God is more interested in getting people ready for the next life than this one.
– Difficult circumstances usually draw people to God more so than happy ones.
– God see time as eternal whereas we see time as finite.
– God sees death as a door whereas we see death as the end.

Give God what’s most precious to you – your time, because it’s your life.

Wait on the Lord. Do not lose hope. Hang onto Him. He will come through…
