Good morning everyone,
Exodus 3:14-God said to Moses, "I am who I am." And he said, "Say this to the people of Israel, ‘I am has sent me to you.’"
It is a silent confession of our own limited ability to be extremely frustrated, discouraged, depressed and unmotivated. It also a silent announcement that happiness in this world is too short of a time, because much of it is based upon circumstances that can change negatively at any moment. These two illustrations really show how control is not at all in our hands, though we might like it to be. I believe the Lord allows for both of these illustrations to play out in our life to teach us that the "anchor" of our confidence is in Himself being whatever we need!
Moses is stunned by God’s call to lead the children of Israel. He is immediately struck by his own limitations, and looks to use his limitations for God to cancel his calling. As if God didn’t create him with the limitations. But have you ever asked yourself why you have so many limitations? Also why is it as you get older you to tend to have them revealed even more clearly (through marriage, kids, jobs, friends, etc.)?
I think it is healthy as a Christian to see life as extremely daunting. Because as Christians the "hallmark" of our faith ought to be humility like Christ displayed. In that we see our need for God and humbling ourselves in our weaknesses to seek Him for His grace and mercy. Moses would have never seen God as "I am" if he had all the tools to do a God-sized task! God’s title of "I AM" is really saying, "I AM whatever you need me to be for you in this life"! God is our confidence, our peace, joy, righteousness, holiness, companion, etc. Whatever is needed at the time He is able to fulfill it or bring to pass through someone, or create it! But many times our sinfulness like Moses is to not want Him. Pray for affections to be stirred up to want Him over what we are seeking to fill the void! I pray that you see a new side of Christ glory you have never experienced before like Moses!
In His Love, Ld
