Exodus 13:17When Pharaoh let the people go, God did not lead them by way of the land of the Philistines, although that was near. For God said, “Lest the people change their minds when they see war and return to Egypt.”

The more I look back on what I desired to happen, I thankfully appreciate what God didn’t let happen.  Because humbly I realized I wasn’t ready for it.  So I can conclude that my impatience was met by God’s compassion and mercy to not ruin myself, such recollections humble me to strive to not trust myself…

God in His perfect wisdom and knowledge of us, allows things to come into our lives that prepare us to handle things, that if we arrived too quickly we wouldn’t be prepared and become completely discouraged. The closest route may get us to the destination, but it is what we learn about God that will sustain us in the destination…(1 Corinthians 13:12, Philippians 4:11-13)

Because once we get to the place we desired so badly, the lessons we should have learned on the way there, become lessons we learn “on the job”, and could be very costly in the place we are supposed to make the greatest impact and witness, not our greatest blunders.

God cares too much about His own glory and our souls to allow us to plunder our lives trying to get somewhere quickly. Waiting and following the Lord wherever He leads, prepares us for some of the greatest challenges of our lives. But we won’t come out discouraged and ready to quit, but rather thankful for the lessons we learned that molded us to be “overcomers” in Christ, through a strong relational faith.
