Hebrews 3:14-For we share in Christ, if indeed we hold our original confidence firm to the end.
Considering how complex our times have become in the year 2020, it seems that God has forced the world to simplify life. The opportunity to do the things without major restrictions, has brought individuals and families to do what is necessary, instead of what we prefer to do…
But in unstable times, I believe the Lord uncovers where our true confidence resides. It is truly Christ as our “original confidence”, and the simple truth that He is our Redeemer and help? Living by faith that He will provide every need of ours, so we can truly rest in Who He is, and what He has called us to do? Or live in anxiety, revealing that our true confidence is in the things He is disrupting? (Phillippians 4:19)
This was the Lord’s issue with Israel, who in unbelief left their “original confidence” in the Lord being their Redeemer and provision, during “testing” in the wilderness. In essence they placed their confidence in what they wanted in unbelief, versus God’s desire to give them true security and confidence through faith in Him. (Hebrews 3:7-11)
For example, the heart of a loving parent instructs and disciplines according to what they know makes a responsible adult. So the child can either rebel in what they think they know in false confidence, or humble themselves in the security and wisdom of the parent? Who has the luxury of foresight from experience the child doesn’t have…(Hebrews 12:10-11)
The Lord calls the unbelieving heart evil, because it rebels against what God perfectly knows. His desire for us is to have true confidence, not arrogance or false confidence in what we think and feel, yet do not know! So out of perfect love, God desires us to simplify our confidence in Christ and what He reveals. Because the alternative is to configure a false confidence and identity, something He knows will not endure the test of unstable times. (Hebrews 3:12)
It is God’s love to rebuke and reveal our false confidence, that we can be secure in Him, our original confidence-In His Love, Ld
