At times, we try so hard to get God on our side. He’s like the superstar player. And if we can just get Him to play for us, we know that our team will win!

So, we pray to get Him on our side. We go to church to appease Him so that our life will be blessed. We read the Bible superstitiously so that we will have God’s favor. The whole time we are thinking, “Come on God! Get on my side. Go with me here. Don’t you see that I’m rallying for you???”

But God says, “It’s MY team. Do you want to get on MY side?”

“Now when Joshua was near Jericho, he looked up and saw a man standing in front of him with a drawn sword in his hand. Joshua went up to him and asked, “Are you for us or for our enemies?” “Neither,” he replied, “but as commander of the army of the Lord I have now come.” Then Joshua fell facedown to the ground in reverence, and asked him, “What message does my Lord have for his servant?” Joshua 5:13-14

Joshua thought the Lord was helping him fight against the Israel’s enemies – Joshua is the main fighter here. But the Lord reminded him that the Lord is fighting His battle and Joshua is just an instrument…

We don’t try to get God on our side. We get on God’s side. It’s His team. Our life is His. Not ours.

Now exhale and let peace reign in your soul.
