John 8:14-Jesus answered, “Even if I do bear witness about myself, my testimony is true, for I know where I came from and where I am going, but you do not know where I come from or where I am going.  

By not having a revelation of knowing where we originate from, (created in the image of God), and what we are made to do from God.  Much of our distinctions, even among Christians, has more to do with where we originate physically, and being motivated by societal circles we want to impress…

Though God has a purpose for evil and evil people (a biblical example like Pharaoh), the challenge for us who profess Christ, is to continue seeking who we really are in Him, and where we are going by following Him.  Without that being the foundation of why we live, I believe insecurity dominates us more than we know…
Jesus stands up against the Pharisees challenge of Who He is and what His purpose is.  Notice, Jesus is not looking to find His affirmation by whether or not they agree with Him.  He knows Who He is, and He knows His purpose, and the fuel of Him fulfilling those things doesn’t come from society, but from the Father…
Now think about what you identify yourself by, and what motivates you to do what you do?  Our insecurities, generally stem from allowing who we are, to be determined by things that aren’t stable.  Whether that’s family, culture, occupation, status, etc., all of those things we have seen fail us or someone we know of.
But security finds itself in the God who affirms who we are in Christ, empowering what we are created to do.  Ironically, insecurity can rule our lives because we become dependent on establishing everything else, but our relationship with Christ and our purpose in Him…
