Do you sometimes feel like God is hiding from you? That, He is nowhere to be found? Or a thought occurs to you that maybe He’s not really there at all?

God knows and understand that. Even a godly man like David felt at times that God wasn’t there for him.

“Why, O Lord, do you stand far away? Why do you hide yourself in times of trouble?” (Psalm 10:1)

And when did he feel this way? When he saw how unfair life was. When the wicked were prospering and the proud were successful. And the poor are exploited and the helpless are crushed… (Ps 10:2-11)

Aren’t those also the times when you feel like God is hiding from you? When life is unfair to you? When people who are doing wrong are going places and successful, and you try to live to honor God and yet you are not being rewarded for it? So, you cry out to Him for justice and He doesn’t seem to be hearing?

I take comfort in the fact that that sentiment is spelled out in the BIBLE – God’s book! God knew that many of us will feel that way about Him time to time and therefore, put that in the Bible for us to read and take comfort.

But what did He also say? “I will never leave you nor forsake you!” “I will be with you to the end of age!”

It merely feels like He’s not there. And that is to be expected. But He IS there. And He is watching. As a loving father watches his small children by the pool, He watches us and never takes His eyes off us.

Keep crying out to Him. Keep asking for justice. Ask Him to reveal Himself to you more clearly. He will, in due time. In the meantime, wait patiently.
