You will die. So will I. I’m absolutely sure of it. And so are you. Then, why do we live like we will live forever? How do I know we do? Because we waste so much time doing things we would never do if we knew we only had a month to live.
So, when we do things we would never do if we had limited time, that shows that we are assuming that we will live longer than a month. But that is not guaranteed. Actually, we might have less than a month. Most people who died didn’t know they were going to die that day or even that month…
Sorry to be so sober on a Monday. But this thought was prompted by what Jesus said about the dead. Mainly that God is not the God of the dead but of the living!
Luke 20:37, “… that the dead are raised, even Moses showed, in the passage about the bush, where he calls the Lord the God of Abraham and the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob. Now he is not God of the dead, but of the living, for all live to him.”
Not only is God alive, but all those who put their trust in Him! It’s not even that they will live one day when they are resurrected, but they are living! Now!
I’m not sure our deceased grandma who was a believer is looking down on us though. When she has so much to enjoy and love in heaven, why would she be interested in the affairs of the earth? If you were at the Superbowl, would you be wondering what is going on with a high school football game nearby?
Live like you are going to die soon. Make your time count.
Live like you are going to live forever in God. Invest in worthy things.
