Do not condemn yourself when God does not condemn you. If you do, then you are claiming that you are holier than God.

I’ve heard people say, “I know God forgave me. But I just can’t forgive myself.” Although that may sound humble, it really isn’t. It is pride disguised in humility which is worse than plain arrogance. it is undermining what Jesus has done on the cross. It is saying that our sense of justice is more strict than God’s even though God killed His own Son to forgive us. It is basically saying that what Jesus has done for us isn’t enough. We think we must feel bad for a long time before we can feel forgiven…

“There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.” Romans 8:1. There is no sweeter word than that in all of the Bible. To know that I am perfectly justified before a God who sees everything in me. He knows my past. He knows what no other human being has ever seen or thought about me. Not even my wife knows some parts of me. But God does and yet He does not condemn me!

Be confident in your standing before God. It is not how you lived. It is what Jesus has done for you. And go to God confidently knowing that He will accept you and delight in you.

“Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.” Heb. 4:16
