How would you feel if Donald Trump is the representation of every male American and Hilary Clinton is that of every female American? That is scary, isn’t it? But that is in fact what the rest of the world will think of America. Whoever is going to be our president is our best. That is in fact what we are saying to the rest of the world…

This representation form of government is not our idea, though. It was God’s idea. Adam was to represent the rest of humanity. He was our best. But he failed. Miserably… “Therefore, as one trespass led to condemnation for all men…” Romans 5:18.

I always felt that it was unfair. I felt like I was being punished for somebody else’s fault. If Adam hadn’t sinned… But I realize that he was our best. He was better than me. If he failed, then I would’ve had no chance. And I proved it by sinning myself… “so death spread to all men because all sinned.” (v. 12)

When our representative failed, we all follow him and failed. It was inevitable. He was our best and if he failed, then it was only a matter of time that all who come after him would fail.

But God provides a better representative. This one was better than Adam. Better than anyone else or anyone could be, as a matter of fact. He’s the one who created the rule book. So, He couldn’t fail. It was none other than God Himself who represented us. “… so one act of righteousness leads to justification and life for all men… so that, as sin reigned in death, grace also might reign through righteousness leading to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” (v. 21)

Jesus is our representative. He represents you and me. Not Hilary Clinton. Not Donald Trump. His work counts for us. His perfection is to our credit.

God didn’t have to give us a better representative. But He did. Aren’t you glad?
