Ecclesiastes 11:4-5He who observes the wind will not sow, and he who regards the clouds will not reap.5  As you do not know the way the spirit comes to the bones in the womb of a woman with child, so you do not know the work of God who makes everything.
Are there things in life that you are hesitant to do?  Maybe because it doesn’t feel sure, or no one you know has done it before, or been successful at doing it?  Being calculated regarding life and the decisions we make can be a good thing, and very necessary.  But when does being too “observant” about decisions become a problem?
A life lived by faith in Jesus doesn’t mean Christians are not calculating or very observant and thorough regarding the decisions they make.  It just means we can never be positive that our “research and statistics” are what we use to determine whether we should make a decision or not.
A life of faith in Christ allows for God to determine what we will decide, and how things will turn out.  Because even though we may “observe the wind” like the scripture reference, our observance of things is not the final determiner, God is!  Our faith is in His way, not in our own, with hopes that He will bless it.
Christ promised us an abundant life.  So it cannot be doing things according to what we know and have experienced from observing.  But true and abundant life is according to where God’s Word and Spirit leads us. Just like Jesus, who did suffer, but with it experienced God’s power operating all throughout His ministry on earth. Fight to not live so calculated that you dismiss a life of faith and power in God’s grace. Though your life maybe completely foreign to what you have known or seen!
In His Love, LD
