Deuteronomy 8:2-3–And you shall remember the whole way that the Lord your God has led you these forty years in the wilderness, that he might humble you, testing you to know what was in your heart, whether you would keep his commandments or not. 3 And he humbled you and let you hunger and fed you with manna, which you did not know,…
Today Pastor Hong and I had the opportunity and privilege to be interviewed extensively about our church and the uniqueness of it. I think it was cool for the both of us, because we didn’t know the questions that were to be asked, we were just told to speak from the heart. I think we both left the interview able to look back and be reminded of how far the Lord has brought our church, as well as us personally!
Sometimes it’s hard to step outside of our responsibilities and be able to look back and appreciate what God actually has brought us through. I am usually guilty of complaining too much about how humbling the process is, rather than how great and faithful God has been in it! But I wonder how grateful would I be to the Lord if the process of life was easy, and I didn’t need humility and faith? How much would I desire others to be blessed, if I never felt the pain of being humbled?
Having to endure a lifetime of humility is not something we aspire to, or even want to think about naturally. But having a process of life that leads us to be more humble, has more to do with the God we are called to live for, and not what we want to achieve. Think of Jesus and His despising of the shame on the cross.(Hebrews 12:2)
God test our hearts by leading us towards “a road” that demands He be exalted over our own desires. As tough as that sounds, and is, I look back on today and being interviewed about our church, and realize the genius of God! That life is hard because we don’t know it, and it is not our plan! So it causes us to have to be humble and admit we don’t know, and have to have faith because we don’t know! The test of our hearts is whether or not we really trust the Lord with our lives by doing His will. Keep fighting to do so, Jesus is truly worth it!
In His Love, Ld
