When I was in college, most of my professors graded on a curve. So, no matter the test score, the class average would receive a B. In my very first physics test, the class average was 29 out of 100! But if you got a 29 on that test, you would’ve gotten a B!

So a thought occurred to me – Why don’t all the students coordinate with each other to get exactly the same score and we will all end up with a B? Then, we don’t have to study as hard to compete against each other! Well, that never panned out because there were always those who wanted to get an A..!

Living the Christian life is difficult only because its grading system is completely different from the world’s. That’s why those who do well in the world, tend not to do so well as Christians. They try to live their Christian life according to the same value system as in the world. Such as, “Go to the top!”, “Be independent!”, “Be your own boss!”, “Maximize your value!”…

But God says, “Fall down,” “Bow low,” “Be dependent!”

The Lord upholds all who are falling
and raises up all who are bowed down.
The eyes of all look to you,
and you give them their food in due season.
You open your hand;
you satisfy the desire of every living thing.
Psalm 145:14-16

The world rewards the best and the brightest. But God rewards the lowly and humble. The way up is to go down in God’s book.

Which value system are you living under, really? God’s or the world’s?

For your joy and peace, humble yourself in your marriage, in your work place, and in your social circles. It’s better!
