John 7:38-Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said, ‘Out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.'”

If anyone of us wanted someone to write our biography our hope we be that they get their information from us or people we closely know. That we would feel very “shaky” about someone who didn’t spend significant time with us given space in our biography, regarding how they “felt” about us or explaining an experience they had with us. It wouldn’t represent us well…

Yet this is how some professing Christians relate to Jesus, or people who claim they “used to be” a Christian. Speaking about someone they never really submitted to as Lord, read about, prayed and confessed sins to, such a person must not be worth believing! So if Jesus is understood in that way that could be bearing a very false witness of who Christ really is!

The encouragement to read the Word is much more practical than we like to think. Though the relationship is very much spiritual, if you don’t practically know the character of an individual it would be foolish to trust them with your time, energy, ambitions, and definitely not your money!

Jesus did not recommend you believe in Him via your favorite pastor, experiences in church, or other people’s testimony. This is why so many people never find satisfaction in Christ, because the Living Water comes from what you personally receive from Him through the Word. This is what will make Jesus the most important relationship in your life and the Word a priority, when you realize He is the only One that can give you Living Water, containing true satisfaction and joy!

In His Love, Ld
