As long as man is at the center, the Bible has mistakes.
If we, human beings, are the judge of all things right and wrong, then whatever detracts from our own sense will seem wrong. This includes the Bible. If the Bible contradicts our latest studies on psychology or sociology or even physical science, then we must go with our findings, rather than the Bible. That, is a man centered view of the world.
Either the Bible is true, all of it, or we are. If you say, “But I think MOST of the Bible is true, just not all of it.” Then, I must ask, “WHO gets to determine which part of the Bible is true and which is not?” It is either all or nothing.
The human history exists to reveal Jesus Christ to the world. (Because the only reason why God didn’t destroy the world right after Adam and Eve sinned is to save them through Jesus Christ.) And the only thing that reveals Jesus Christ is the Bible. In other words, much of human inventions, God allowed, so that the word of God could spread to the world!
– The writing was invented thousands of years ago so that the word of God may be written down.
– Vehicles were invented so that the word of God could spread faster.
– Ships were invented so that the word of God could go overseas.
– Schools were founded so that the word of God could be read and understood.
– Businesses and jobs were created so that the word of God could be supported.
– Internet was created so that the word of God could spread even faster.
If so, then do you see that all these are only vehicles? And the content is the word of God? How foolish of us to use the word of God (the content) to enrich our vehicles (education, jobs, internet). Do you use your children (the content) so that you can get a better car (the vehicle)? It should be the other way around.
It is no accident John 1:1 says, “In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God and the Word was God.”
The Bible doesn’t exist to enrich our life experiences. Our life experiences exist to point us to the Bible. Just like Jesus doesn’t exist for us. We exist for Him!
How are you doing in the word?
