One of the joys of being a Christian is seeing how everything is connected. The things I used to think were random and irrelevant, I’m finding coherent.
For example, why are Christians against racial discrimination and yet they oppose homosexual marriage? Isn’t that inconsistent? If Christians are against racial discrimination, shouldn’t they also be against “gender” discrimination as well? Why do we go against people who want to marry someone of the same gender and thereby discriminate against their choice?
Wisdom comes flying in and says “because our race is sacred and so is our sexuality.” Meaning, our race is something good that God has determined. And therefore, we do not have the right to choose any race we want. Likewise, our sexual orientation is something good that God has determined and therefore, we do not have the right to choose any gender we want.
A simple way of saying this is, if we give people the right to choose their gender, then we should also give people the right to choose their own race as well. What if I didn’t want to be Asian and I wanted to be black. So, I get a surgery to make me look black. And inject chemicals into my body to darken my complexion. And I apply to colleges as a black person so that I can benefit from Affirmative Action! (A famous singer tried to do this (race change) and his “brothers” didn’t like it one bit!)
We cannot disregard God from this world. It doesn’t make sense without Him. Everything becomes a point of contention and choice. But wisdom is knowing that they are not disjunctive, random, separated ideas and concepts. They are coherent because we have an intelligent God who designed this world with wisdom.
So, When was the last time you asked the Lord for wisdom?
“If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him.” James 1:5
When you don’t know what to do or where to go, ask God for wisdom. More than asking for a sign, ask for wisdom.
