Nothing happens without God willing it to happen.

I know that brings up all kinds of questions. But having it the other way (things happening without God being in control) brings up just as many questions.

When I was younger, God being in absolute control of my life felt like bondage and loss of freedom. But now that I am older and perhaps wiser, God being in control brings comfort and peace.

Ps. 139:16, “All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to me.”

Everything that’s happened in my life and yours were already written in God’s book long before they ever took place. And we can be assured that they were for our good because God is love and His love endures forever, which means He does everything out of love.

That means even what seems like tragedy was for our own good ordained by God Himself…

As hard as that is to swallow philosophically, I don’t think I would have it any other way. Because for it to be any other way, it means I am in charge of my own destiny. While that may not sound so bad to us middle class Americans, that is bad news to anyone born in a third world country for whom the mantra, “you can be anything you want to be,” is definitely not true…

I’m glad God is in absolute control. Praise God for that!
