Good morning everyone,
Hebrews 4:15-For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin.
Psalm 34:5-Those who look to him are radiant, and their faces shall never be ashamed.
I believe the most crucial step in the life of faith as a Christian is having an emotion hit you, whether that’s anger, shame, jealousy, bitterness, pride, etc, and quickly seek Christ to have such an emotion driven out of our hearts. The reaction time to such things will of will surely vary, but there must be a godly reaction at some time. Otherwise we can be sure we will have nothing of intimacy to relate to Jesus with.
The great glory of Christianity is that in knowing Christ we have a Savior who experienced all such things that could have drove Him to sin, like we do. Just think about how angry and grieved we would get if the individual we created is mocking us and looking to kill us! Yet the Bible says He did not sin. Now of course God knows that we will sin, but Christ is our sin-bearer giving us His righteousness (1 John 2 v1,2). But in being that for us, God gave His Son for us to look to Him for forgiveness and grace (help) for our sinful reactions. So we are faced with questions in making the crucial step to continually restoring our relationship to Christ and others:
1) Do we believe Jesus understands whatever I’m going through?-we never go to people for answers who we don’t feel relate to us
2) Will we humble ourselves to Christ for the peace we need, instead of pridefully allowing these emotions to eventually bring us shame?-Usually pride deludes us into thinking that if we feel a certain negative emotion towards a person than we get back at them and will feel better, yet such emotions are sinful, even anger, if not dealt with eventually (Ephesians 4 v26).
In His Love, Ld
