Hebrews 13:20-21–Now may the God of peace who brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, the great shepherd of the sheep, by the blood of the eternal covenant, 21 equip you with everything good that you may do his will, working in us that which is pleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen.
At times we can find ourselves with a lot going on the next day before we go to sleep and “overload” our minds, playing out scenarios, schedules, and things that we need to fulfill. So the phrase that God has given me to correct such a mind state is, “don’t get ahead of grace”...(Hebrew 4:15-16)
It’s easy to think of tasks that need to be completed, rather than equipping ourselves spiritually for the task at hand. This is why worship and time with God, whether that’s at night before bed or early morning is vital. Because it reminds us our life is spiritual, with physical tasks and people that need our service, which draws from us. Are we equip for that?-(1 Corinthians 1:30-31, Colossians 3:3-4)
So no matter how organized our schedule is, it is our heart with the people we come in contact with that can set the tone of our day. Though there is a sense of “peace” in fulfilling tasks, doing the task in true peace or resting in Christ, equips us influentially to do what is necessary, being light amidst darkness. (Philippians 3:14-16)
The writer of Hebrews desires our identity and peace to be in Christ, for our own sake yes, but more importantly for the glory of Christ. Reminding us why God has us where we are, as well as why true influence is not possible without faith. Our influence apart from Christ is vain glory, and though we get affirmation that is our only reward. (Matthew 6:2-3, 2 Corinthians 10:13-17)
Continue striving to start or end your day with Christ. Preparing your soul for much more than what a schedule demands, but also what spiritual warfare awaits, that we don’t always know about, yet can be equipped for and victorious in through Christ. (1 John 5:4)-In His Love, Ld
