One of the hardest things to do is waiting. Especially, when we don’t know how long we have to wait. Whenever I go to a doctor’s office, for example, I make sure to pack my laptop with me since I don’t know how long I have to wait.
One of the reasons why it’s hard to wait is because I’m on his terms. I am ready to see him, but I can’t do anything until he is ready. And I do not naturally like this. I want things to be done on my terms, on my time table. And if I feel that I have waited sufficiently long enough but it’s still not happening, then I’m out.
This is what makes waiting on the Lord hard. I am on HIS terms. He dictates when and how. I am simply at His mercy. And I must trust His timing more than my timing on things. If I feel that He’s delaying, it’s because my timing is off and not His.
“Be patient, therefore, brothers, until the coming of the Lord. See how the farmer waits for the precious fruit of the earth, being patient about it, until it receives the early and the late rains. You also, be patient. Establish your hearts, for the coming of the Lord is at hand.” James 5:7-8
Be patient. It will happen. Either Jesus will come back in our life time, or we will go to see Him.
