2 Thessalonians 1:11-12 To this end we always pray for you, that our God may make you worthy of his calling and may fulfill every resolve for good and every work of faith by his power, 12 so that the name of our Lord Jesus may be glorified in you, and you in him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ
One of the great benefits of meditation, is recognizing the need to quiet your soul and locate what maybe disturbing your peace or what eventually could. Without making time to be “quiet”, we can suffer from insomnia, because the quietness of sleep, can be interrupted by a “noisy soul” of unresolved issues and situations, that can’t be resolved before going to bed!
When we take our soul serious, we realize we cannot be ignorant of what needs to be resolved in our life. Making time for prayer, meditation, quiet time, etc. is crucial, especially when I consider the many things the Holy Spirit has brought up to me, that I didn’t know was disturbing me! God being the perfect Father, doesn’t allow us to ignore what could eventually be destroying us, and our relationship of love and peace with Him…(Romans 8:27)
The apostle Paul encourages the believers in Thessalonica, that God would not only “sanctify them”, but may fulfill every resolve for good by His power. This implies that there are some things in our hearts, that we have prayed to be resolved and still hope to, that haven’t been yet. Like Paul, it could be someone mentioning, that they are praying for what we have been working to resolve, which could be enough to encourage us in hope.
It is not uncommon to busy ourselves or just live ignoring things, so we don’t have to deal with unresolved issues. But to do so, is to disbelieve and not embrace the compassion of God, who desires for things to workout for our good and His glory. Sadly I’ve heard many people say they hate the quiet, because it makes them focus on things that aren’t pleasant or are too overwhelming…
It can be tempting to think that God doesn’t care about what is plaguing our hearts to be resolved, usually because we have our own “time table” of when things should be resolved. But despite our impatient unbelief, God can give peace in spite of things not being resolved yet. But it’s up to us to make time, and seek God for peace in the meantime…Psalm 4:8–In peace I will both lie down and sleep; for you alone, O LORD, make me dwell in safety.
In His Love, Ld
