I love these words from Jesus:

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.”

Matthew 11:28-29

Do you ever get tired of yourself? I do. Oftentimes, I don’t like myself and I wish I were someone different. But then, if I were someone else, I would eventually learn to not like myself, since I would still be a weak human being. But that is looking inward. And although it is helpful at times to look inward at my soul, it’s not healthy to dwell there. I need to look outward and lean on the everlasting arms of God. He alone is strong enough to sustain me and you.

Slowly read those words again and let it soak in: Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened and I will give you rest…

Are you weary? Are you tired of yourself? Are you tired of your circumstances? Are you ready to give up?

Are you burdened? Is your family’s well-being weighing heavily on you? Do you worry about your loved ones? Are you anxious about your own future?

Come to Jesus in word and prayer. Take a walk in the nearest park before you go home today. Lay your burdens at the foot of the cross. Let Him handle all your anxieties and burdens. Do this until you find rest for your soul in HIm.
