2 Corinthians 13:4–For he was crucified in weakness, but lives by the power of God. For we also are weak in him, but in dealing with you we will live with him by the power of God.

One of the more helpful ways to look at life in Christ, is to see “our walk” as revealing weaknesses we need to overcome, by God’s power.  Because if we are truly obedient to God, than approaching “new horizons” with arrogance is foolish.  Because the new challenge exposes our weaknesses, and a need for God…

In other words, life in Christ should be very humbling, because we are living by the power of God.  For example, if we don’t see ourselves as “weak”, it maybe because we are only embracing what is familiar, and we can do what is familiar without God!  But to embrace what is unfamiliar exposes weakness, and takes us not relying on our ability but God’s…

The apostle Paul wanted the Corinthians to understand that though Christ was crucified in weakness, it was because He lived to glorify God, so He operated in power.  Which means that we can’t operate in real power, why we live prideful in our “strengths” or what’s familiar.  It reveals that we are not willing to walk with God to a certain point, and that point usually being where He exposes just how weak we are..

Though we hear “God’s strength is made perfect in weakness”, the desire to live like that, is to really desire God’s glory over our own.  Because God doesn’t need to work in power on our behalf, if we settle to work in our own.  We prove that our pride dominates our life, which led Paul to ask the Corinthians to test whether they are in the faith (2 Corinthians 13:5)?
