When you are tired, stressed , and anxious, where does your mind go? Where do you go for comfort, safety, and consolation?

I often go to Netflix, Target, or the Y when I’m in such condition. But they simply delay the condition and do not properly deal with it. I must go to God to find my true rest and comfort.
You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies;
you anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life,
and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever.
Ps 23:5-6

Look again at the last sentence: “and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever.”  To me, that is the ultimate source of comfort and consolation. When I think about – really dwell in the thought of – heaven and being with God forever, then my fears and anxieties find their proper place.
I will quite literally try to picture what first arriving at heaven will be like. Looking at the crystal blue sky that is lit by the Son (not the sun), all kinds of fruit trees growing in the vineyard, a perfectly young, healthy and indestructible body that is looking back at me in the reflection of the lake, and my best friend and Lord Jesus welcoming me to my house that is a mansion…!
We do not think nearly enough about heaven. Perhaps for fear that doing so will make us impractical on earth. But that is not so. The Bible mentions it often to give us a target to live for. Unless we have the destination in mind, what are we running for, after all?
When you are tired, stressed, and anxious, rest in the Lord. Rest in the future home. And resolve to think, “Whatever happens, it’s okay. Heaven is my home and the earth is my inheritance.”
