Things get messy even if it’s God’s will. Actually, it is almost guaranteed that messy things will happen when we follow God’s will. Therefore, don’t be alarmed when you try to follow God’s will and things don’t work out the way you have envisioned right away. It’s supposed to be that way.

God has called and anointed David to be the king of Israel. But he would have to run from King Saul for years until that is finally realized. And even after he becomes king, he is only the king of Judah, which is one of 12 tribes of Israel, and not over the entire country of Israel. It would be another 7 and a half years before he finally becomes king of all Israel as God has said. In the meantime, there were strifes, conflicts, betrayals, jockeying for position, etc. (2 Samuel 1-2)
What I’m trying to say is that just because something is God’s will, it will not be automatic. There will be whole lot of efforts, planning, risks, even failures involved before His will is accomplished.
So, do not get discouraged and quit when things get hard as you strive to live according to God’s will. It’s supposed to get that way. I’m not aware of anything that came easily in the Bible.
If God reveals to you His will, He’s warning you that things will get hard. Brace yourself. Hold on to God. Work toward what God has called you to. And keep doing it to the best of your abilities. He will eventually see it through.
