Deuteronomy 1:6-“The LORD our God said to us in Horeb, ‘You have stayed long enough at this mountain.

If you compare the experience of “change”, versus the idea of things staying the same, change carries with it an excitement or newness, with the idea that change is what life is all about!  So what does it mean when you find yourself doing the same thing for a long period of time, and change seems far from ever happening?
Change or “newness” doesn’t necessarily mean better.  Sometimes doing the same thing for awhile, may hint to us that we need to learn discipline, patience, and trust.  While our anxiousness to do something “new”, could point to our lack of discipline, trust, and patience?  Which is why for me, doing the same thing for a long time is good for my growth, because I know I can lack all three of these things!
At this point God wanted to move the Israelites from wandering in the wilderness, to finally conquering the land He promised them.  So it was God who decided when they were to move out, not their anxiousness, not their boredom, but God alone…
The revelation I believe we can take away from this passage, is whether we make decisions being led by the Spirit of God, or our emotions, conditions and circumstances?  To faithfully “compass” a mountain in your life for years, doesn’t always mean you are not ambitious, or are somehow afraid of progress. It may mean that you are faithful and waiting on God?
Dot let people’s standards, anxiousness, or lack of faith derail you from waiting on God.  Because if you wait on Him calling you, you will know it is Him paving the way, and providing for you in His purpose.
In His Love, Ld
