It is no secret that I love children and youth. I’ve worked with them from the time that I myself was a youth. And if it weren’t for God’s calling, I would still be working with children and youth. And in a way, I’m still working with them since I’m working with their parents. Healthy parents, healthy kids…

One of the reasons that I love children (youth) is because they are guileless. Unless they are lying, which is usually obvious, they will tell the truth in a way that is irrelevant to whether that truth-telling will be beneficial to them or not. We, adults, are the opposite. We will either hide or utter truths in a way that would be advantageous to us. And the older we get, the better we become at this. Politicians are a perfect example of this.
God hates this. Jesus pointed this out about the Pharisees by asking them a question. But because answering one way or another was disadvantageous to them, they simply said they don’t know (Luke 20:1-8). This is damning. They were dishonest to themselves. In order to get what they truly wanted, which were money and approval from people, they denied the only truth in Jesus Christ. Their bottom-line was something other than God.
Do we do this? Do we deny Jesus because we have something else as our bottom-line? Do we hide the fact that we are Christians from our friends because we are afraid of what they might think? Do we fudge on our tax reports in order to pay a little less? What is our bottom-line? Is it Jesus or is it something else?
Pray that Jesus will be your bottom-line. Also, pray for me that He will be my bottom-line as well.
