2 Timothy 3:16–All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness,
When you think about what keeps you from submitting to an idea, or an opinion from another person, do you measure listening to them according to how you feel about them? Or are you able to gather what is being told, and without bias weigh whether it is right or not for you to do?
Whether we realize it or not, our feelings toward an individual can have a lot to do with whether we listen to them or not. However, that is not a good thing. Because if we anchor our decisions based on how we feel about a person, we could be missing out on some important truths that profit us more than the people we really love or admire!
Jesus was notorious for telling the truth, yet because of how the religious people of His day (and today) felt about Him they ignored Him. They hated His impact and what He was revealing about their hearts, so they ignored Him and eventually killed Him, The Living Word of Truth!
This is why it is so important to anchor our lives in the Word and Spirit. Because God has a way of using complete strangers, people we don’t respect, or like, to reveal to us our need to be submitted to Christ, and not our emotional bias. It is God’s genius way of revealing our impartiality, that if we are really seeking the truth, we won’t care who God uses to reveal it to us. Of course the end goal of God is for us to walk in love towards everyone, because we never know who can help us with a Word of truth…
In His Love, Ld
