My math students (high school) start squirming in their seats 10 minutes into the class. But when I put on a movie, they will sit there for 50 minutes without moving an inch! Imagine staring at the wall for 2 1/2 hours! Wouldn’t that be torture? But if that same wall had sights and sound that tell a beautiful story, we will be spellbound for those hours.

We all love beautiful stories. We can’t have enough of them! As stoic as I seem, I have belly-laughed, heaved in tears, had butterflies in my stomach watching some dramas/movies. And I believe one of the ways we will spend eternity in heaven is by listening to stories. Why? Because God is the divine story teller. He is the One who invented stories as the Author of this world. Those who will be gathered in heaven will have so many stories to tell that are better than any movie or drama we have seen that eternity will seem too short to tell all of them!

The book of Esther is one such story. A beautiful orphan girl is chosen by the most powerful king of the land. She’s a princess warrior who saves her people from the hands of a wicked man. There is tension, danger, risk, love, and resolution like all good stories. And God is the One who orchestrated the whole event clandestinely to a satisfying end.

You are I are part of that divine story. One day we will see the movie that we took part in. Jesus Christ, of course, will be the main actor. But we will see how millions of our individual stories will link up to one divine story that God tells.

Keep reading the story that God is telling. God gave us the Bible that essentially tells one story that shows us how our stories might link up to His. You like a good story? Wait till you see God’s grand story finally unveiled in the end. Be there!
