One of the evidences of being saved is that we now get along with or even love those we didn’t before.
When we are saved, we are not only saved from sin and hell, but we are also saved into the family of God. Therefore, it is imperative that we treat those who are in Christ with love and oneness you would not see in the world.
Every Christian would agree with this, of course. But the problem is that not many are making a conscious decision to do this. They would rather follow their natural (rather than supernatural) tendencies and what you end up is surrounding yourselves only with those who affirm you and who think like you (Just like the world). That’s why 93% of churches in America are not diverse!
I find comfort in the fact that some 1st Century Christians also had this problem. 1 Cor. 3:4, “For when one says, ‘I follow Paul,’ and another, ‘I follow Apollos,’ are you not being merely human?”
But I do not find comfort in the fact that Paul rebuked them, and he expected them to live inhumanly (or supernaturally).
Unless we are making conscious efforts to obey Christ, we will be obeying the world’s ways naturally.
So, do not follow your natural tendencies. Do not say what comes naturally to your mind. Do not head toward people that you naturally would go to. Do not look for comfort in the people that would tell you what you want to hear.
You are not natural anymore. You are supernatural if you are in Christ. Why would you seek for natural things?
